Oh, a photo book is something really nice. Whether for a birthday, after your last vacation, at the start of daycare or simply as a sweet gesture in between - cause you know, small gifts keep friendship and so on. Designing a photo book for someone small or large is one of the most personal gift ideas.
That's how it came about the Kleine Prints photo book - as a present for my daughter Lotta to get used to kindergarten (you can read the whole story read here). And of course, the idea meant that you now nothing to me, nothing to you a great photo book for your little sugar candy. Without a lot of Bohai and really easy on the computer or smartphone.
The only thing that is even more individual is a self-made photo book. And because I find the idea at least as beautiful, I have my dear friend Kirsten asked to let their creative streak throb and to make a photo book themselves. You can't imagine how happy I was when she said yes. And now I proudly present you the result including a super detailed step-by-step guide.
The DIY photo book to make yourself
The instructions I am presenting here are for a Leporello photo book. These are those books that you can't leaf through, but unfold them like an accordion and even put them down.
For the Kleine Prints DIY Photo Leporello you need:
- Colored paper in DIN A4, preferably a little firmer
- Gray board, 2x and cut to 155 x 215 cm
- Nice ribbon, for example grosgrain ribbon
- The small prints Template for the front and back of the photo book (They come in two colors. Just click on the link and download both for free.)
- Decorations, for example glue dots, stamps, washi tape etc.
You also need
- Craft knife
And this is how the photo book is made
First all colored pages are folded in half and set up as shown in the picture.
When you are done with it, you will receive a long strip of paper that can be pushed open and closed like an accordion.
step 3:Now the front and back sides are cut out and drawn onto the gray board (if you don't have the templates yet, you can download it here - free of charge, of course!).
First, take the front, first fix the corners and then fold the side edges. Do the same thing again with the back.
Now the sides are connected to the lids. Put the back in front of you so that you are facing the gray side. There you now fix the grosgrain ribbon in the middle.
Now glue the inside pages of the book onto it.
Then put the lid on and glue it on.
When everything is dry, it's time to style the contents. Our wonderful new ones are particularly suitable for this Photo prints, which you can easily find in my shop in the formats 10x10 cm, 10x15 cm or 13x18 cm can order. We print the photo prints on somewhat firmer but velvety natural paper with a matt finish. I am enthusiastic about the quality and I promise you, you will be too!
TIP: Simply order the pictures for your self-made photo book in different dimensions. The mix of formats helps you to make your photo book even more unique!
When all the pictures are in the right order, glue them in place and decorate the sides. You can either write a small personal message or decorate the sides with adhesive dots, washi tape or stickers.
Now your self-made photo book is ready and ready to put a smile on the face of one of your loved ones (or yourself?).
I hope you enjoy making photo books and giving them away!
